Description
Advair Diskus is used for long term treatment of asthma. It is not indicated for the relief of acute bronchospasm.

How to Use
Advair Diskus inhalations should be performed twice a day. Rinse the mouth with water without swallowing after every inhalation.

Warnings/Precautions
Advair Diskus is not indicated for the relief of acute bronchospasm. Before using Advair Diskus, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, foods or other substances, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Advair Diskus, if you have active or inactive tuberculosis or a positive skin test for tuberculosis, have infections of the respiratory tract, untreated fungal or bacterial infections, parasitic or viral infections, measles, chickenpox, herpes simplex in or around the eye, or recently received a vaccination, if you have diarrhea, glaucoma or cataracts, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding. If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Advair Diskus Inhaler while you are pregnant. It is not known if Advair Diskus Inhaler is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast–feeding while you use Advair Diskus Inhaler, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby. Some medicines may interact with Advair Diskus. Therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation or dietary supplement that you are taking. Do not use Advair Diskus if you are having a severe asthma attack requiring quick relief. If you are also using a bronchodilator inhaler, be sure to always carry the bronchodilator inhaler with you to use during asthma attacks. Some patients may have trouble using Advair Diskus correctly. Some may also get mouth sores or a bad taste in the mouth after using it. If you have any of these problems, ask your doctor if a spacing device may help. Contact your health care provider at once if episodes of asthma that are not responsive to bronchodilators occur. Contact your health care provider at once if signs of an infection occur. If you have not had chickenpox, shingles, or measles, avoid contact with anyone who does. Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Advair Diskus before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery. Advair Diskus should not be used in children younger than 4 years old, safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the possible side effects are - constipation, dizziness, flushing, giddiness, headache, heartburn, heat sensation, lightheadedness, nausea, weakness. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately - allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue), irregular pulse, shortness of breath, swelling of the feet or hands, tender, bleeding or swollen gums.

Storage
Store this medication at room temperature, between 59 –86 °F (15 –30 °C) in a tightly closed container. Keep away from heat, moisture and light (not in the bathroom). Keep the medication out of the reach of children.

Overdose
If overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. Some of the possible symptoms of overdose are - dizziness, fainting, loss of consciousness, rapid, slow or irregular heartbeat.

More Information
Advair Diskus should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
