Description
Noroxin is an effective treatment against infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms and other conditions determined by your doctor.

How to Use
Noroxin comes as a tablet to take by mouth. Try to take pills at the same time every day at leat 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Usual dose is 800 mg a day for an adult. Always finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. The taking schedule can be adjusted by your doctor.

Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Noroxin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, foods or other substances, if you have a history of allergies, asthma, hay fever, or hives, if you have had a severe allergic reaction (e.g., severe rash, hives, breathing difficulties, dizziness) to a cephalosporin (e.g., cephalexin) or other beta – lactam antibiotic (e.g., imipenem), if you have kidney problems or gonorrhea, if you have a history of liver problems or yellowing of the eyes or skin, if you are planning to become pregnant or are breast – feeding. If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Noroxin while you are pregnant. Noroxin is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast – feeding while you use Noroxin, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby. Some medicines may interact with Noroxin; therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Noroxin only works against bacteria; it does not treat viral infections (e.g., the common cold). Long – term or repeated use of Noroxin may cause a second infection. Tell your doctor if signs of a second infection occur. Your medicine may need to be changed to treat this. Contact your doctor promptly if you develop stomach pain or cramps, severe diarrhea, or bloody stools. Do not treat diarrhea without first checking with your doctor. Birth control birth pills may not work as well while you are taking Noroxin. Brown, yellow or gray tooth discoloration may occur in some patients taking Noroxin. The discoloration is reduced or removed by brushing or dental cleaning in most cases. Do not take Noroxin if you have infectious mononucleosis (mono), if you are taking a tetracycline antibiotic, if you have recently received or will be receiving live oral typhoid vaccine. Lab tests, including liver function, kidney function, and complete blood cell counts, may be performed if you use Noroxin for a long period of time. These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to Noroxin effects. These patients may require a lower dose or/and special monitoring during treatment. Noroxin should be used with great caution in children younger than 10 years old who have diarrhea or an infection of the stomach or bowel. Do not use Noroxin in children who weigh less than 88 lbs (40 kg), safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.

Missed Dose
If you happen to miss a dose take it as soon as you remember unless it's time for another dose. Never double you dose.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the possible side effects are – diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately – allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue), bloody stools, confusion, dark urine, fever, chills, or persistent sore throat, red, swollen, blistered or peeling skin, seizures, severe diarrhea, stomach pain or cramps, unusual bruising or bleeding, vaginal discharge or irritation, yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Storage
Keep Noroxin out of the reach of children. Keep Noroxin in its original container. Store at 25°C (77°F); excursions permitted from 15–30°C (59–86°F).

Overdose
If overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of a Noroxin overdose are not known, but are likely to include chest pain, difficult breathing, dizziness, an irregular heartbeat, and swelling of the ankles or legs.

More Information
Noroxin may cause dizziness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Noroxin with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it. Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed. Do not use this medicine for other health conditions. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor.
