Description
Zyban is used for helping to quit smoking.

How to Use
Zyban comes as a tablet to take by mouth. The general dosage is one tablet taken two times a day. It may be taken with or without a meal. It is important to swallow Zyban Tablets whole. Tablets should nod be chewed, divided or crushed.

Warnings/Precautions
If you have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) in the last 14 days, do not take Zyban, as dangerous side effects may occur. This drug is in the FDA pregnancy category B. Which means that animal–reproduction studies have not demonstrated a fatal risk but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women, or animal–reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect (other than a decrease in fertility) that was not confirmed in controlled studies in women in the first trimester (and there is no evidence of a risk in later trimesters). It is also not known if Zyban passes into breast milk. Therefore do not take Zyban without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant, likely to become pregnant or breastfeeding.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. Taking more of Zyban than prescribed increases your risks of having a seizure.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the possible side effects are – hypertension (high blood pressure), in some cases severe, has been reported when taking Zyban alone and in combination with nicotine replacement therapy (for example a nicotine patch). If you have difficulty sleeping, take your medicine well before bedtime. Shakiness and skin rash are also common. If allergic reaction, such as a rash, hives, or difficulty in breathing occurs, you should stop taking Zyban and seek medical attention immediately. Notify your doctor if you experience these or any other side effects. For more information on side effects of this medicine, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage
Store this medication at room temperature 15–30°C (59–86°F). Keep away from children and excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom).

Overdose
If overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. Some of the possible symptoms of Zyban overdose are – seizures, hallucinations, loss of consciousness, weakness, a fast heartbeat and heart attack.

More Information
It is recommended to avoid drinking alcohol while taking Zyban. Alcohol combined with Zyban may increase the chance of having a seizure. However, if you usually drink a lot of alcohol, discuss it with your doctor before stopping. Sudden stopping may increase the risk of having a seizure too. Be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities
